A Retrospective Analysis Of Intoxication Cases at Artvin State Hospital

Abstract

 

Objective: In our study we aim to define the clinical and demographical properties of acute toxication cases at Artvin State Hospital emergency service.

 

Materials and Methods: From 01.01.2007 to 17.03.2008 , 125.234 patients came to emergency service and 121 of them were acute intoxication case and all of them were examined as retrospective.

Results: Sex, age, cause of intoxication, time of aplication, prognoses and complaints of them were determined 53 of the patients were female and 68 of case were male.29 of the patients were toxicated from medical drugs, 27 of them from CO, 25 of the patients from caustic material, 24 of the cases from food, 8 of them from animal bite, 7 of the cases from alchol and one of them from pesticide. 49 of them came to emergency service in the morning and 72 of the case came there at night. The furthest complaints are hypotension, emesis,vomiting,and confusion. 108 of them were intoxicated accidental. 13 of them were. Suicide, .27 of the patients were hospitalised and 85 of the cases were treated, 9 of them were died.

Conclusion: Toxications were more seen at young person by medical pills.. Medical pills were the most suicide reasons among the cases. The data suggested are the same as the other studies done in Turkey before.
