Abstract

Solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura are rare neoplasms and account for less than 5% of all pleural tumors. They originate from mesenchimal cells of the submesothelial tissue of the pleura. They present as a discrete, pediculated and encapsulated tumor. It is usually an asymptomatic mass; however, chest pain, cough, dyspnea, arthritic pain, clubbing of fingers and hypoglicemia can be seen. Two patients with solitary fibrous tumors were operated in our clinic. Solitary fibrous tumors were discussed in the light of literature data.
