Abstract

Glial tumors appear to be most frequent ones observed amoung central nervous systemtumours, and they redside in that system as the most malignant and life treatining (glioblastoma multiform). It is important for choosing manner oftreatment and prognostic assesment to distinguish tomours with gliosis and to get related with histological classification. In the present study, we examined the relation between increased rote of cell proliferation with tumour supressor gen inactivation and histological differences regarding to gliosis and gliomas. The tumours were reviewed by pathologists and classified as fallows; 5 gliosis, 38 gliomas (6 grade I, 6 grade II, 2 grade III, 14 grade IV). All this samples were immunohistochemically stained by using Ki-67 and p53 amtibodies. The results of the stainings displayed that the lesser staining observed with gliosis and the higher steining witn glioblastome multiform. As a result, it has been found out that there is significantly increasing steining density from gliosis to gliomas by antibodies of Ki-67 and p53.
