Abstract
Chronic renal failure is characterized by impaired host defences, which are compromised further by renal replacement therapies. This results subsequently in increased frequency of severity of infection. Vaccination plays an important role in attenuating this infection risk, Patients with chronic renal failure should receive all standard immunizations. These patients should also be immunized with special vaccines. Increased vaccine dosage, reinforced vaccination schedules, may play an important role in more effective vaccination. It is important that vaccine response to be monitored in these patients.
