Abstract
To investigate the diagnostic value of diagnostic peritoneal lavage (DPL) in penetrating thorasic abdominal trauma, 92 who treated for penetrating abdominal trauma at department of General Surgery Atatürk University Shool of Medicine were rewieved retrospectively. Of the patients 32 had penetrating trauma to thoracal abdomen, 5 patients had multiple wounds. Of the 32 patients with thoracal abdominal trauma 20 patients underwent emergency operation. The remaining 12 patients underwent DPL. Six patients had positive findings and six patients negative. Patients with negative DPL reciewed non surgical treatment. Patients with positive DPL underwent surgery, 5 had various organ injury and 1 had no organ injury. The sensitivity specifity, positive perdictive value and diagnostic curancy of DPL were 100%, 80%, 83% 92% respectively.
