Abstract

A 59 year old female was presented with dysphagia. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was diagnosed by biopsy material which was taken this region with esophagoscopy. Thoracic computed tomographic study was determined a mass of tumor, behind of left atrium. The transthoracic echocardiographic examination showed a 35x35 mm paracardiac mass, next to descending aorta, with a hyperechogen center. There was mild pericardial effusion but no tamponad sign. Because of widespeared lymphatic metastasis in thorax, she was treated by esophageal stent and discharged without complication.

We have reported a case of pericardial effusion developed in a patient with esophageal carcinoma.
